About the opportunity
Reporting to the Unit Head Equine and Associate Head of Clinical Sciences, the Senior Lecturer’s primary focus is to expand knowledge and clinical proficiency within the discipline of Equine Sports Medicine. At the University, you will have the rare opportunity to be part of the development of the centre of excellence for equine sports medicine with the vision to be a world leader in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of horses with sports related injuries and illnesses through innovative research in the field while training the veterinarians of the future.

A Senior Lecturer is expected to make a significant contribution to the research, education and administrative endeavours of their School/ Faculty while building their reputation towards becoming an authority in the discipline. As a Senior Lecturer you will be hands on in the education of DVM students in Equine Sports Medicine and practice. You will provide specialist level clinical services to clients of the Equine Sports Medicine Service at UVTHC while delivering internationally recognised research in the discipline in conjunction with collaborators in SSVS.

- a veterinary degree registerable in NSW
- a specialist qualification in equine Sports Medicine registerable in NSW
- a a PhD in the area of equine science with quality publications (PhD desirable)
- a track record in research in equine science /sports medicine
- a willingness to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Education Studies (Higher Education) or a comparable PG course in teaching and learning
The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience and knowledge

The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC) provides a range of large and small animal veterinary services to the community and referring veterinarians. As a teaching school, it also provides didactic and clinical instruction to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students during the pre-clinical and clinical final year as well as offering a number of post graduate training programs. The UVTHC has a strong focus on promotion of teamwork and good working relations to facilitate excellence in clinical services, undergraduate teaching as well as the overall teaching and learning environment for staff.
The Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre will provide a premier facility for horses, owners, and veterinarians alike to collaborate, research, and provide unparalleled evidence-based treatment to horses to redefine the paradigms of equine sports medicine.
