Exclusive to Provet, Zydax is a disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug for dogs.
Zydax® is a disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug (DMOAD) for dogs and is the leading innovation in osteoarthritis (OA) management.
Unlike anti-inflammatories, which tend to treat the symptoms of OA, Zydax targets the progression of the disease. Zydax has a high safety margin and is APVMA approved for weekly injections over multiple courses of therapy at the recommended dose.
Until recently, the management of OA has been symptomatic, aimed at reducing pain and improving joint function. Zydax provides an effective long-term treatment of OA, supported by studies that show using DMOADs slows OA progression, as well as relieving pain and inflammation.
Zydax 100 injection is a disease-modifying pentosan polysulfate approved for use in dogs with OA. Pentosan polysulfates intervene in the pathobiology of OA, and Zydax is the most studied PPS injection in dogs. Over 500 individuals were enrolled at more than 30 GCP clinical study sites over 5 years.

Zydax is administered by veterinarians in a weekly regimen for 4 weeks. Typically, a noticeable reduction in osteoarthritis symptoms occurs after just 2 or 3 injections.
The initial treatment course generally offers 3 to 6 months of relief from osteoarthritis-related issues. Following this period, the veterinarian might suggest another round of 4 injections for sustained relief.
Therapeutic claims are applicable to the New Zealand market only. Various countries have different regulatory requirements and this information should be read accordingly. Consumers should always consult their veterinarian on the health of their animal.
